Pratt Institute PreCollege College level art and design classes for high school students.

Pratt PreCollege offers courses designed for high school students interested in exploring studies in art, design, and creative thinking with the option of receiving college level elective credits. Spring and fall semester classes and a summer four-week intensive provide high school students with a taste of the college experience while obtaining a better understanding of educational and career opportunities within creative fields.

Work by Skye S, a student in Eve Leonard’s 3D Animation class with the Pratt PreCollege Intensives.

Professor Leonard will return to teach the 3D Animation course for Summer 2026, walking students how to use Maya and Unreal Engine. Students will learn how to model details interiors and exteriors, animate characters with realistic movement and weight, and experiment with texture and lighting to create mood.

Join us Friday, May 1 for a Figure Drawing workshop led by Agnes Walden - Pratt faculty and working artist. Using a live, n**e model students will practice short and long form sketches using charcoal and will gain a basic understanding of line weight, composition, and shading. Students leave with a body of work they can use in their portfolio

Workshop runs 5-8PM; timed perfectly to pair with an afternoon campus tour!

Cost $249; all supplies included.

No experience required - open to students in grades 9-12

Our 2026 staff shirts just arrived!

Designed by BFA student Jimmy Li ( )

Jimmy has worked as an Illustration and Sequential Arts mentor with the PreCollege Program over the past two years as well as overseeing comic book workshops and off-campus trips to climbing gyms, Coney Island, and more!

As an undergrad, Jimmy has managed , Pratt’s annual comic anthology as was named one of ‘s 2025 Eisner Scholars.

Please join us in thanking Jimmy for all his hard work with the PreCollege Program and wish him well as he gets ready to graduate in May!

Just over one month left until applications for Summer 2026 close on May 1! Limited seats still available for PreCollege Intensive and PreCollege Explore.

PreCollege Explore: Students can live on campus or commute from home while they spend two weeks learning from Pratt faculty in tracks for Fine Art, Design, or Architecture. Class time in the morning is supplemented by visits to artist studios, museums, and workshops across NYC offering high school students a behind the scenes look into the lives of working creatives while building work for their college portfolio.
