The Cooper Union - Summer Art Intensive The Cooper Union intensive summer pre-college art program prepares students to apply to undergraduate top art schools through highly structured projects.

The Cooper Union welcomes high school sophomores and juniors from all around the world to ignite individual portfolio building, to study and absorb contemporary and historical visual art practices, and to experience the power of a studio-based community that learns together. Through highly structured projects, this pre-college art program prepares students to apply to top undergraduate art schools

. Students select from Drawing, Graphic Design, Animation, or Digital Photography for a 3-day studio concentration, devoting the 4th day to the study of contemporary art issues and creative writing. Portfolio preparation classes, taught by a specialized faculty of working artists, are combined with visits to major museums and gallery districts, engaging students with the vast cultural resources of New York City. Guest Artists in residence offer a close-up view of a professional practice in action. The Cooper Union Summer Art Intensive culminates with a student exhibition, a publication of art and writings, and a public animation screening with a reception in Cooper’s Rose Auditorium.
