Last week marked the 50th anniversary of the “Battle of Versailles”, a pivotal moment in fashion history where five American fashion designers took on five French fashion designers to raise money for the restoration of the Palace of Versailles.

To celebrate the anniversary, we invited Deborah Riley Draper, the director of “Versailles '73: American Runway Revolution” to .nycfashion

The conversation, moderated by , was attended by current NYC Fashion students and viewed virtually by guests on the .fashionschool campus in Kent.

It was a pleasure to have back at after 10 years!

has been part of the wardrobes of stars like Beyoncé, Madonna, Kate Middleton, and Lily Collins. And the world leaders in French leavers lace, who work with brands like Chanel, are partnering with the .nycfashion Junior Design Studio this semester!

Our Junior Design students are creating pieces for their second project with French lace, generously provided by 🙌🏾 Francois Damide, the President of Solstiss USA, stopped by last week to educate the students on the history of French lace. He also chatted with the students about the progress of their project.

The final garments for this project will be critiqued by the Solstiss team - keep an eye out for the final looks! 🤍
