TONIGHT! Thesis show of show begins at 4:30pm at Roosevelt House: 47-49 East 65th Street
Showcasing the work of Seyi Adebanjo, Nathan Fitch, Alex Mallis, Natacha Oh, and Kelly Spivey!

4:30pm - screening: Home, This Identity by Natacha Oh - 38min
Natacha Oh immigrated to the United States from Argentina when she was 25. This self-portrait, experimental film explores immigrant identity and touches upon US Foreign Policy and involvement in foreign wars and human rights violations.

5:15pm- Mixer, gathering and presentation about the IMA program

6:00pm - Evening screenings | Reception to follow

Mikrós Soldier by Nathan Fitch - 50min
Micronesian Pacific Islanders are not US citizens, yet they enroll in the US military - and die - at disproportionately high rates. Mikros Soldier explores the complex relationship between the U.S. and Micronesia, and follows two young men as they leave their tranquil island homes, go through basic training, and head to Afghanistan.

The Liberation of Helène Aylon by Kelly Spivey - 25min
This intimate film portrait explores how a woman raised in an Orthodox, working class community became a radical feminist conceptual artist, commandeering a monumental cross-country trip to "rescue" nuclear contaminated earth. Helène Aylon will charm and mystify you with her endlessly hopeful view of humanity, art and her faith.

Ọya: Something Happened On The Way To West Africa! by Seyi Adebanjo - 30min
Follow Seyi's journey as a Q***r Gender Non Conforming Nigerian, connecting with Òrìṣà (African God/dess) tradition and the powerful legacy of Seyi's great grandmother, Chief Moloran Ìyá Ọlọ́ya. This personal and political story vibrantly investigates the heritage of command, mythology, gender fluidity and womyn’s power in indigenous Yorùbá spirituality.

La Noche Buena by Alex Mallis - 18min
A young American tries to connect with a distant family acquaintance in Cuba but only alienates himself further. The film, shot in Havana, is based on the director's personal experience.
