CUNY ASRC and CCNY CDI researchers have received an $18.1 million National Science Foundation (NSF) award to create a cloud-programmable national laboratory that uses artificial intelligence and robotics to speed the discovery, design, and production of advanced bio-inspired materials. https://bit.ly/4xjecYb

The project’s leadership team includes principal investigator Ronald Koder (Physics, The City College of New York), co-principal investigators Rein Ulijn (founding director of the CUNY ASRC Nanoscience Initiative and distinguished professor of chemistry at Hunter College), Saptarashmi Bandyopadhyay (Computer Science, CCNY), Raymond Tu (Chemical Engineering, CCNY), and Xi Chen (Nanoscience, CUNY ASRC/Chemical Engineering, CCNY), who bring expertise in multi-agent AI, peptide materials, and automated characterization. AI-BIOME also collaborates and builds on industry partnerships with the CUNY ASRC Center for Advanced Technology (CAT), led by Business Development Director Tavis Ezell.
