New York University College of Dentistry Dental Hygiene Programs Welcome to the official page of the NYU College of Dentistry Department of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting

The Department of Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting houses two academic programs of study; the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Dental Hygiene, and the Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene. Both programs offer students a concentrated curriculum that extend from lectures and clinical instruction, to outreach participation to underserved communities; preparing a well rounded, profess

ionally experienced student entering the practice of dental hygiene. The program also provides continuing education to dental hygiene professionals and hosts dental hygiene alumni events.

Diode Laser Technology in Dentistry: Fundamentals, Techniques and Soft Tissue Management

Join Prof. Kaitlin Stier and Prof. Victoria Benvenuto for an engaging 8-hour, hands-on workshop designed to build your confidence using diode laser technology in clinical practice. Learn practical applications for periodontal therapy, bacterial reduction, pain management, whitening, soft tissue procedures, documentation, and billing using ADA terminology codes—all through interactive lectures and supervised hands-on training.

đź’ś Smiles, service, and community. đź’ś

This past Saturday, Dental Hygiene students and faculty proudly volunteered at the Special Olympics New York, supporting athletes and promoting the importance of oral health through the Special Smiles program. Along with the Pediatric Dental residents from Northwell (Cohen Children’s Medical Center), our students assisted with exams, charting and home care instructions.

From oral health education to meaningful interactions with athletes and their families, it was a day filled with compassion, teamwork, and purpose.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our community and help make healthy smiles accessible to all.
