We are excited to announce that our Health Information Technology program has been awarded full accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM)! This means that program graduates are eligible to take the national Registered Health Information Technology exam, which opens up job opportunities in this high-demand field.
When 2026 graduate Ariana Khan applied to the program, she was specifically seeking a degree program rather than a certificate. Working toward a career in medical billing and coding, she plans to take the RHIT exam now that the program is accredited by CAHIIM, giving her a leg up in the job market.
Congratulations to Professor Laquan Black, who led the program's accreditation process with the support of Interim President Elizabeth de León Bhargava, Provost Reifenheiser and Business Administration, Human Services and Information Technology Chair Marcia Edwards.
The Health IT program is also free for eligible students through CUNY Reconnect. Visit https://guttman.cuny.edu/reconnect/ for details!
