A 2x Sy Syms alumnus building the future of Jewish business education, meet Rabbi Kalman Laufer 🎓
Meet Rabbi Kalman Laufer ’16SB (B.S.), ’17SB (M.S. in Accounting), a two-time Sy Syms alumnus whose YU journey has taken him from studying Finance and Accounting to leading graduate programs at RIETS.
Today, Rabbi Laufer serves as Director of the Graduate Halacha Programs at RIETS, where he oversees YU’s programs in Bioethics & Jewish Law and Business Ethics & Jewish Law.
Now, he’s helping lead the launch of a new Master’s in Business Ethics & Jewish Law—bringing together business education, Jewish law, and contemporary ethics.
The new program offers concentrations in Real Estate, Finance, Sales, and Management & Small Business, with a curriculum designed to help professionals apply the principles of Halacha to today’s most pressing business questions.
From Sy Syms → RIETS → program leader, Rabbi Laufer’s story is a powerful example of how a YU education can evolve into a lifelong journey of learning, leadership, and impact.
