With regret, I inform you of the passing of Joseph Peloso.

(Family written Obituary) Joseph H. Peloso, 86, of the Bronx, New York, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026, in the Bronx, where his life began and came full circle.

Born on May 12, 1940, Joseph lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, loyalty, and love for his family. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, he served his country with honor and carried that same sense of commitment and responsibility throughout his life.

Above all, Joseph was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and a cherished friend to many. He shared more than 60 years of marriage with the love of his life, Eleanor. Their enduring partnership was a testament to a lifetime of love, companionship, and shared memories.

A hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family, Joseph believed in the importance of showing up for the people who mattered most. He was known for his loyalty, dedication, and love for those closest to him, and he had a way of making lasting connections with those fortunate enough to know him.

For most of his life, Joseph was a proud member of the Locust Point Yacht Club, where he built lasting friendships and enjoyed the camaraderie of a community that held a special place in his heart. He had a love for boating and cherished the time he spent out on the water. His years at the club were filled with friendships, stories, and memories that will be treasured for years to come.

He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Eleanor; his son, Joseph (Suzanne); his cherished grandchildren, Leena and Joseph; his loving sister, Pat; and his extended family and many dear friends. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the love he shared, and the countless memories he leaves behind.

Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

The funeral arrangements are as follows: a Wake will be held on Thursday, (10/15) from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home.

With regret, I inform you of the passing of Sebastian Abbruzzi.

(Family written obituary) On October 9th 2026, Sebastian “Sebee” Abbruzzi passed away at the age of 82. He will always be remembered for his devotion, love and pride for his family.

He is survived by his wife Annmarie, daughters Denise Diane and Dawn Son in Laws Hank, Vinny and Scott Grandchildren Kristen Vincent Ava and Nicholas.

Sebee leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship and countless memories. His presence touched the lives of so many and his memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and every person whose life he touched along the way.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to plant a tree in memory of Sebastian.

The Wake will be held on Thursday (10/15) from 3-7pm at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home.

With regret, I inform you of the passing of Billy Hughes.

(Family written obituary) William “Billy” Patrick Hughes Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, and mentor, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 28, 2026, at Montefiore Medical Center following a short illness. He was 72 years old.

Billy was born on November 11, 1953, in Washington Heights, New York, to William and Ann Hughes. The eldest of four children, Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Joseph.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen; his daughter, Jessica Woods (Cody); his son, William Hughes (Gabby); his brother, Michael Hughes (Caresse); his sister, Patti Balakitsis; and his beloved nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family, and countless friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

During his early adulthood, Billy spent much of his time playing and coaching sports throughout his Washington Heights neighborhood. It was during these years that he earned the affectionate nicknames “Coach” and “Space Cowboy”—names that remained a part of his identity and the memories shared by those who knew him. Many of the friendships Billy formed during those years lasted throughout his lifetime.

Billy lived a life filled with many passions and accomplishments. He was a graduate of Iona College, a skilled plumber, a maintenance manager at Columbia University, and an avid scuba diver. He was also an enthusiastic and devoted Lord of the Rings fan, a passion he proudly shared with those around him.

In 2018, Billy received the gift of a heart transplant. His family will be forever grateful to his donor and the donor’s family for the precious gift of life that gave Billy nearly eight additional years with the people he loved. Those years became a treasured gift filled with memories that his family will carry with them forever.

Above all else, Billy was a man who loved his family and his friends deeply. He had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, and his home was a place where everyone had a seat at the table. Friends became family, and family always came first. Billy was the person people could turn to when they needed help, support, or simply someone to be there. He gave freely of himself and never wanted to be a burden to anyone.

Billy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and countless memories. His presence touched the lives of so many, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, in-laws, friends, and every person whose life he touched along the way.

He will be loved eternally and missed more than words can express.

(Family written obituary) Anthony Rucco, 61 years old, of NYC, born and raised in Throggs Neck, Bronx, NY died suddenly on September 18, 2026.

Retired Firefighter for FDNY, proudly serving Engine Co. 40, Ladder 35 for 21 years.

Born to parents Dolores and Americo (deceased) on July 1, 1965, he was the beloved brother of Gregory (Dana), Stephen and younger sister Susan. Loving uncle to Joseph (Stephanie), Dina, Robert (his Godson) and Angela. Also survived by many other family members and friends.

With regret, I inform you of the passing of Kevin Sharkey.

(Family written obituary) Kevin Joseph Sharkey, of New Rochelle, New York, went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, Patti, his devoted son Eric, and his loving family.

For the past several months, Kevin was surrounded by the love, prayers, and support of his family and friends. For that, his family will be eternally grateful.

Kevin was born in the Bronx, New York, on October 2, 1952, to Irene and Joseph Sharkey. He grew up in New Rochelle, where he attended Holy Family Grade School and New Rochelle High School. Kevin was a longtime member of Sing Out New Rochelle and New Rochelle Relig.

Kevin was a longtime member of LU 806, the Bridge Painters Union, and went on to spend 35 years working for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey before his retirement. He was proud of his years of work and the many friendships he made along the way.

Kevin was also a member of the USS Yorktown Association. The USS Yorktown held a special place in his heart because it was the ship his father, Joseph, served on during World War II.

Family was at the center of Kevin’s life. He treasured spending time with his wife, son, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He especially loved golfing with his son Eric, his brothers, uncles, and cousins, making memories that will be cherished forever.

Kevin also had a special connection to the Sharkey Horseshoe Courts in New Rochelle, which were named in honor of his grandfather. Kevin was instrumental in helping to clean, care for, and maintain the courts, taking pride in preserving this special part of his family’s history.

Kevin loved riding his motorcycle with his wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed the freedom of the open road and, most of all, the time spent sharing those rides with the people he loved.

He also loved sitting by the seawall in Edgewater, watching the water and enjoying the company of family and friends. Those simple moments brought him great happiness.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Patricia “Patti” O’Flannagan Sharkey; his devoted son, Eric Joseph Sharkey; his sisters, Barbara Martin (Edward), Deborah Lipari (Robert), and Patricia Cullen; and his brothers, Michael Sharkey (Lynn), Brian Sharkey (Cindi), Joseph Sharkey, and Kenneth Sharkey.

He is also survived by Patti’s loving family: Debbie Roff (Rocky), Gerri O’Flanagan, Dolores (Dan) Hostomsky, Jack O’Flanagan (Coleen), and Richard O’Flanagan (Bobbianne).

Kevin was the beloved uncle of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and held a particularly special place in the hearts of many of them, especially his goddaughter, Laura Kannaley. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins, lifelong friends, and neighbors.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Joseph Sharkey; his sister, Diane; his niece, Sarah; and his brother-in-law, Arthur Cullen.

Kevin will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His family will forever cherish the memories, laughter, adventures, and love he shared with them.

He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him and will remain forever loved, forever remembered, and forever a part of the Sharkey family.

With regret, I inform you of the passing of Lillian Thompson.

(Family written obituary) Lillian Thompson lived her life committed to nurturing her family. Her steadfast strength managed the daily rhythms of family life with skill, creativity, and boundless love. Whether she was tending to her garden, sending silly jokes to her family every morning, or Christmas shopping in July, she approached every task with care and devotion. She and her husband, Kenneth E. Thompson, Jr., taught their children the value of kindness, hard work, and togetherness - leaving behind a legacy built on unconditional love and steady support. Lillian’s favorite job was her role as “Grandma” to her three granddaughters and two grand-dogs. She will be forever missed and her memory cherished.
