Are We There, Yet?
The Persistence of White Privilege in the Midst of Post-Racial Sentimentalism in America

Over the past few decades, a new rhetoric has emerged about race in America. In the wake of the Civil Rights Movement and the election of Obama, many believe it is possible, even necessary or pragmatically preferable, to address the plight of the poor and the marginalized in America with race-neutral—or “color-blind”—policies. We’ll examine whether this corresponds to an empirical reality or is some sort of sentimentalism. Finally, we’ll examine what’s at stake for ministers and educators if we cease to speak honestly and openly about race-specific injury and discrimination.

Ethnic Friction among the People of God
Dr. David Emanuel, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Bible

The idea of believers from all nations living together in harmony represents an ideal in the kingdom of heaven. Unfortunately, throughout the Bible, especially with regards to the people of God, problems stemming from ethnic intolerance frequently arise.
