📣🏙️ Civic Futures Lab applications are open!! Calling all students eager to create solutions to complex urban and social issues through creativity, research, and human-centered design, all while making friends!

🌟Participation in the Fellowship results in up to a $1500 stipend. Civic engagement is a major initiative by CUNY and Macaulay, supported by faculty and staff.

📝This Fellowship is also partnered with the Watson Foundation and Design for America.

Current Macaulay students: What challenges facing New York City and beyond matter most to you?

You’ll help shape the future of New York, and we want to hear what you see as the most pressing challenges facing our communities.

Your responses to the anonymous Grand Challenges Survey will help guide Macaulay’s inquiry, research, learning, and action throughout the year, while also helping shape the work of the Macaulay Civic Futures Lab—a program that empowers students to explore complex problems and develop real-world solutions.

Macaulay Science Forward sophomores took their coursework into the field this past weekend at Willowbrook Park on Staten Island for Macaulay BioBlitz! 🌿🔎 Over 24 hours, students worked in teams to tally plants, animals and insects, contributing data to real scientific research and helping build a better understanding of NYC’s biodiversity. 🕊️🐸🦋

Ruby Moran '28 (Baruch) attended the Global Partner Program at Harvard Summer School this July. She took a graduate Project Management class with professors Deb Cote and David Shore. Through this summer course, she learned both the technical and soft skills that are necessary to being an effective and compassionate leader.

At Baruch, she's a marketing management major with a journalism minor. Outside of the classroom, she has had the opportunity to meet students from all over the world from Spain, India, Australia, China, Germany, France, Argentina, and more. Being a part of Macaulay's first group of nominees during their first year of their partnership with Harvard was the greatest gift she could have ever received.

On September 3rd, the Macaulay Diversity Initiative will host its annual Diversity Reception from 6PM-7:30PM as part of our Weeks of Welcome series! The event celebrates and empowers the diverse identities of our new student class while bringing together current students, alumni, and staff. It will be a meaningful way to begin the semester, with community and connection at the forefront. See you there! ⭐

Day 3 of Orientation yesterday gave new students a glimpse into what it means to be part of the Macaulay community, with opportunities to connect with leadership and staff, student clubs, campus resources, and community organizations. At Macaulay, an education goes beyond the classroom—our students are part of a community committed to civic engagement, exploring the challenges facing New York City, engaging with their communities, and helping shape the city’s future.

What a Mixer we had yesterday during Day 2 of orientation! ⭐
