About the Mock Trial Association:
The Mock Trial Team prepares students to perform on both the plaintiff/prosecution side and the the defense side of the case. With the help of coaches, students will learn courtroom etiquette and trial procedures. Every year, a different case, civil or criminal, is distributed with an intriguing and creative story. Mock Trial Team:
The team consists

of 6 to 10 students. Each team will have 3 lawyers, 3 witnesses, and a timekeeper competing for each scrimmage. Lawyers Role:
Each lawyer is responsible to perform for direct examination and cross examination. One lawyer will do opening statement and another lawyer will do closing statement. Witness Role:
Witnesses are responsible for memorizing their affidavits and lines. Each witness in a team should memorize at least two affidavits, one for the plaintiff/prosecution side and one for the defense side. Time Keeper Role:
A time keeper is also needed to time each element of the trial, provide signals as to how much time is remaining, and announce when time has expired. Scrimmages:
Scrimmages are practice matches that prepare students for the tournament in February. One team is on the plaintiff/prosecution side and the other is on the defense side. Throughout the year, there will be a scrimmage every week until the the regional tournament. Baruch will not only have its own teams competing with each other but will also scrimmage with other colleges and universities. Scrimmages will be held in either Baruch or in the other college/university. Tournament:
Starting February 2016, the Mock Trial Association will be representing Baruch in the Regional Tournament with other colleges and universities. The tournament will be held in another state, therefore traveling is required. All traveling expenses, food expenses, and hotel expenses will be paid for by the school.
