The Bronx Community College baseball team earned its 13th program championship earlier today, defeating Queensborough by a score of 12-2 in five innings! Veteran Jason Espinoza was tabbed the game's Most Valuable Player, while starter Juan Santos struck out 10 batters!

Congratulations to Bronx Community College baseball sophomores Abel Acosta Vasquez, Adrian Pena, Anderson Puello, Anshel Novelo, Jason Espinoza, Luis Torres, Justin Perez Salcedo, and Luis Villaman, and head coach Adolfo DeJesus, on getting honored yesterday prior to the team's home finale against the Sharks of Suffolk!

Prior to the start of the game, the BCC Department of Athletics took a few moments to honor and salute nine sophomore players who have meant so much to the program over the past two seasons. All of the celebrated student-athletes, including Abel Acosta Vasquez, Adrian Pena, Anderson Puello, Anshel Novelo, Jason Espinoza, Luis Torres, Justin Perez Salcedo, and Luis Villaman, received commemorative action shot picture frames in a show of appreciation for their tenures on the squad. Head Coach Adolfo DeJesus was also presented a plaque celebrating his 40 years of service to the baseball program.

The ceremony, and the game, were attended by Bronx Community College President Dr. Larry Johnson Jr., as he also threw out the first pitch of the game.
