Hello MMC Students and Staff!

The MMC Speech Club event, “Stuttering Awareness” taking place on Oct. 30th at 7 PM will shed light on the misconceptions of stuttering and debunk stereotypes of individuals who stutter. We are going to be discussing Joe Biden’s stutter and how he has risen to a high status in the United States with his stutter. We are also planning on inviting a guest speaker to speak more about this disorder and make this a night of education about stuttering. Attendees will have an opportunity to donate to The Stuttering Association for the Young throughout the event hosted by the MMC Speech Club.

RSVP now on MMC Engage or send us a message for the Zoom Info!

We can't wait to see you there! 🗣💙

Hello Griffins! 🗣💙

The CSD Department and the MMC Speech Club welcome you to the Fall 2020 semester!

We are looking for new members to join the MMC Speech club! The MMC Speech Club is a group of students passionate about education and charity in the context of speech and language therapy. The club is looking forward to this year and all the opportunities that they can give our student body.

Any student is welcome to join the club, you do not have to be a student majoring in Speech-Language Pathology! We love hearing new ideas and perspectives. The club meets once a month, and the meetings are not mandatory. They will be held partly in person and partly over zoom.

If you are interested in learning more about the club, feel free to email us, message us on MMC Engage, instagram, or message us here on Facebook! 💙

This week we will be honoring the graduating seniors from the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department. We laud the dedication, perseverance and leadership they have all shown throughout their years at Marymount Manhattan 🗣💙

Our fifth and final honoree is senior Megan Joseph. Megan is an incredibly passionate and personable future clinician, and we are confident that she will do amazing things. Megan has volunteered her time in multiple capacities over her years at Marymount, including working at NYU Rusk rehabilitation center in a specialized feeding group and being this year’s NSSLHA Chapter Treasurer! Her passion for speech-language pathology is evident in everything she does and we wish her the best in everything!

“The friends that I’ve made throughout my three years of Marymount Manhattan College are friendships that will last a life time. True friends that no matter what I was going through in my life were there for me. I will be forever grateful to this program and the people I’ve met along the way. The past three years at MMC has taught me so much and prepared me for graduate school. Because of everything I learned, I am feeling confident about starting at New York Medical College in the Fall to get my Masters Degree!”

We love you, Megan! 🎓

This week we will be honoring the graduating seniors from the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department. We laud the dedication, perseverance and leadership they have all shown throughout their years at Marymount Manhattan 🗣💙

Our third honoree is senior Nico LeMoal-Polumbo. Nico is a constant source of positivity in the CSD Department, and she will truly be missed. Nico is a committed student clinician and has volunteered time during her senior year to treat patients. She embodies everything we as a department try to instill in our students, and it has been a pleasure to have her in our clinic and classrooms for the last four years!

“MMC’s clinic has given me the skills and confidence to enter graduate school at Pace University with excitement and pride in my abilities. Thanks to the guidance and mentorship I received from my clinical supervisor, the experience I gained with my very first client, and the friendships I made with my peers, I know I’ll be ready for all that grad school throws at me!”

We love you, Nico!🎓
