DO NOT GIVE YOUR PHONE TO STRANGERS TO SEND THEMSELVES “DONATIONS.”

If someone in Washington Square Park approaches you asking for donations for a questionable cause, politely decline. Especially if they ask you to hand them your phone so they can Venmo themselves money. They often send themselves much more than the amount you agreed to donate. If you think a situation seems fishy, it probably is. Trust your gut and remove yourself from the situation.
