Hello, my name is Jalin Estrella, and I'm a BBA Finance major. I'm Jamaican, Puerto Rican, and Filipino, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. In my free time, I enjoy gaming, cooking, and learning to read manhua. One of my biggest long-term goals is to create a nonprofit organization that gives back to those in need and helps families find joy during difficult times.
My journey began with the SEEK Summer Program. Although rigorous, it played a major role in my successful first year. SEEK taught me that true strength comes not from the individual, but from the community of people working toward a common goal. One of the core examples of this was this mandatory walk where we had to wear a pink shirt so bright it felt AI-generated. The shirt wasn't, of course, merely bright pink but carried the weight of a serious topic: breast cancer Alongside fellow SEEK students, mentors, and staff, I helped raise awareness and funds for an important cause. Moments like these showed me that college is about more than earning a degree. It's about gaining the knowledge and values needed to make a positive impact on the world.
I have also been fortunate to participate in the , a free professional development and internship placement program run by Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO). Through mentorship, career preparation, and internship opportunities, SEO has provided resources that have helped me grow professionally. For students seeking additional support, I strongly encourage exploring programs like SEO, which offers tracks in Finance, Marketing, Technology, Real Estate, and more. Opportunities like these can truly change the course of your future, and sometimes all it takes is one application.
