Hong Kong University Alumni Association New York Chapter

09/27/2026

Despite the nor’easter forecast, around 80 alumni, families and friends from HKU, HKUST, CUHK and HKANY joined us for a wonderful Mid-Autumn afternoon.

We were lucky the wind and rain stayed relatively mild during the main gathering, and everyone could enjoy the food, mooncakes, conversations — and four full mahjong tables! 🀄🀄🀄🀄

A big thank-you to everyone who came, helped, and made the afternoon so warm and memorable.

中秋快樂 — Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! 🌕

🐉🏆 A Special Day for HKU New York 💚🗽

What a wonderful day for the University of Hong Kong Alumni Association New York Chapter (HKUAA-NY) at the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York! Congratulations to our HKU New York Dragon Boat Team for taking 1st place in the Educational Invitational, finishing in 1:42.40 in a very competitive race with HKUST, CUNY Knight Dragons, Columbia Lion Dragons and CU Dragon.

The trophy is certainly something to celebrate, but what makes the day especially meaningful is seeing our HKU community in New York come together as a team. Behind those 1 minute and 42 seconds were many hours of practice, coordination and commitment. Everyone made time from their busy New York lives to train together and support one another — and on race day, it all came together. And as we Hong Kong people like to say: 齊心就事成 — “When we work with one heart, we can make things happen.”

A special thank you to our team leader CP Kou for his dedication and leadership, and for all the work behind the scenes bringing everyone together. We are also very grateful our alma mater HKU for the generous sponsorship and support that helped make this experience possible.

Dragon boat racing is a wonderful reminder that it is not about any one person paddling the hardest — it is about everyone finding the same rhythm, trusting one another and moving forward together. Thank you to everyone who paddled, practiced, organized, supported and came out to cheer. The best part of the day was sharing it together.

From Pok Fu Lam 薄扶林 to New York, the HKU spirit continues. 💚

See you back on the water! 🐉🗽 Go HKU!
