It was a great day yesterday! The Honors College enjoyed a quick trip off-campus to visit some Newark landmarks. First stop was Nasto’s Ice Cream for some sweet treats, which were enjoyed in lovely Independence Park. Then, it was off to St. Mary’s church for a performance from the Rutgers-Newark Chorus. This was their Spring Concert with the theme of “On the Journey”. Finally, there was a post-concert reception at St. Benedict’s.

This excursion was made possible due to a generation donation from the Galante Family. We are so grateful to be able to make opportunities like this for our students!

The Honors College had a BALL at Admitted Student Day last weekend! We had such a positive experience connecting with prospective Rutgers students and answering their questions about our program, both at our table and at our Student Panel Discussion. Our HC Ambassadors were the star of the show and we are so grateful for their willingness to share what the Honors College experience is all about! Can’t wait to see many of you in the Fall!

It is finally here! Research Week 2026 kicks off TODAY with our Keynote Lecture, featuring an engaging presentation on interdisciplinary research, innovation, and real-world problem solving.

Keynote Lecture: “Unlikely Bedfellows: Whales, Yachts, and Criminologists”
Monday, April 6, 2026
11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Engelhard Hall, Room 100

In this accessible and thought provoking talk, John DePersenaire (Viking Yacht Company) will share the story of an unexpected collaboration among corporations, conservationists, and researchers. Drawing on tools such as artificial intelligence, satellite imaging, and analytical methods developed for criminal justice, this work helps monitor whale movements and prevent dangerous vessel collisions.

Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
