UDaB: University of Delaware Alternative Breaks

UDaB: University of Delaware Alternative Breaks UDaB is now in its tenth year. In 2019, UDaB provided 29 service experiences with 62 Site Leaders and 464 student participants.

The University of Delaware Alternative Spring Break program immerses student-led teams in direct service and experiential learning with community organizations to increase knowledge of social justice issues and encourage life-long active citizenship. When it began, spring break of 2011, 92 students and 12 student leaders traveled to five communities to pursue service projects related to homelessne

ss, food scarcity, disaster relief, outdoor education for urban youth, and trailbuilding in a national forest. More than 3000 hours of service work was completed by the participants, and through the passion and determination of these students, our group now is looking towards the future. Last year alone, this student-run, student-led organization performed over 18,000 hours of direct service throughout the nation and in the communities that surround our campus in Delaware.
