Congratulations to graduating senior 🎓, Erika Chalas, who has achieved remarkable academic success as a Dean’s List student for all semesters, a recipient of the EOFPANJ Outstanding Academic Achievement Award, and the Helene Fuld Endowed Scholarship. She is also actively involved in organizations such as the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, National Association of Hispanic Nurses, and the B.R.I.D.G.E EOF Club. 👏🏽

Erika hopes to gain experience as a registered nurse in pediatrics then continue her education to earn her DNP. 🌟

She deeply values the SN-EOF program, recognizing it as a source of community, support, and opportunity throughout her journey. Through EOF, she built meaningful friendships, connected with supportive peers and professors, and found mentorship that contributed to both her academic and personal growth. She shares that her EOF community became like family, helping her stay motivated and confident along the way. 🖤❤️

Congratulations, Erika, on your outstanding achievements, and best wishes for your bright future in nursing! 🩺

Meet some of our future nurses! 🏥❤️

Last Friday, these incredible seniors were honored at the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) EOF Graduate Achievement Ceremony — and we could not be more proud! Many of them have directly benefitted from funds raised through Giving Day, and they are proof that your generosity makes a real difference.

They graduate in May and we have no doubt they will continue to pay it forward. 🙌✨

Thank you to every donor who has supported the Rutgers School of Nursing EOF Program. You helped make this moment possible! We hope you will consider donating today and helping the next generation of EOF nurses achieve their dreams.

A great mentor doesn’t just teach — they listen, encourage, and believe in others even before they believe in themselves.

RU-SON EOF MENTOR OF THE YEAR 2025 ⭐️Justinna Dixon, PhD (‘22) ⭐️ embodied all of that and more! Her guidance shaped a nursing student’s career and built confidence in her to shine. Dr. Dixon shares “I became a mentor to not only pass on the pearls of wisdom my mentors past and present have imparted on me, that helped me become a distinguished Rutgers nurse but to also show students that achieving excellence is attainable.”

Her favorite part of mentoring is the emotional connection she has made with her mentee and seeing how encouragement, guidance and positive reinforcement makes a huge difference!

For nurses who are interested in becoming mentors, Dr. Dixon expresses that all mentees come at different baselines and goals they hope to achieve. You are a successful mentor, when your mentee feels closer to reaching their authentic self and have a better understanding of their own potential!

Thank you, Dr. Dixon! Your commitment goes beyond instruction — it inspires excellence, resilience, and leadership. She has re-joined the program & will be celebrating our 4th cohort with us on MENTOR MATCH DAY 2.11.2026!
