We are overjoyed to share that the ELI's Intensive English Program (IEP) and Delaware EFL Teacher Training (DEFT) programs have been reaccredited for another 10 years of service by CEA: the Commission on English Language Institutions, which is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. βœ¨βœ”οΈ

This reaccreditation affirms the ELI's commitment to providing high-quality, student-centered programs that support our mission and meet the needs of EFL learners.

Thanks to ELI adjunct instructor Monica Farling, whose passionate dedication and meticulous organization led this 2+ year project to the finish line.

Alumni Spotlight: Salem Almutairi from Kuwait

"I was very nervous [when I arrived in the U.S.] because it was a new environment, and I had flown thousands of miles. I did felt better when I learned that there were other Kuwaitis at the ELI. After orientation, I went outside and saw one of them... and that’s when the nervous barrier broke for me."

Since 2019, the ELI has welcomed 1,683 Chinese students. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡³πŸŒ

When students come to campus to learn English, they don't leave their culture behind; we encourage them to embrace American life while sharing their backgrounds with UD students through clubs, events, workshops and more.

Want to know how Chinese students are embracing these opportunities for cultural exchange? Check out the Chinese in Action newsletter at the link in our comments.
