Youth Power Action is alive and well. In this 4th Annual Youth-Led Newark School Board Candidate Forum hosted by Youth Media Symposium and The Gem Project, Inc., we got the support of several young people, allies, and partners who are part of Youth Power Action.

We need YOUTH and YOUNG ADULTS everywhere to pull up next Saturday. Families are welcome. Let’s make voting and elevating the POWER OF VOICE a tradition.

For over 15 years the Youth Media Symposium has made it a priority to engage our youth advocates in the school board elections. Students have created videos to remind adults to vote, hosted candidates forums with The Gem Project, Inc. and more importantly, set forth agenda items that mattered to them - like student voice and college readiness for all, which resulted in the YMS College Success Centers. Now, thanks to local legislation and the efforts of New Jersey Institute for Social Justice 16 year olds can VOTE. Join us on Saturday for the VOTE 16 Summit, a day dedicated to empowering young people age 14-24 to secure their voting power.
