Reclaiming Your Community
For many ADHC scholars, this marked their first colloquium of the year! 🎉 This year’s First-Year Seminar reading centered on the idea of investing in and uplifting the communities we call home. In her work, Majora Carter challenges young people to think critically about what it means to create opportunity, strengthen neighborhoods, and contribute to lasting change.
NJIT had the honor of welcoming Carter to campus, where scholars heard firsthand that meaningful community change is rarely simple or immediate, it happens through persistence, collaboration, and one step at a time. 🫂

Global Health Systems: Digital Metamorphosis
Professor Martin Curley of Maynooth University introduced scholars to new approaches for transforming global health through digital innovation, systems thinking, and research-informed practice. Drawing on more than a decade of research and examples from Ireland’s health system, he explored how healthcare can shift from being centered primarily around hospitals to being more connected, preventative, and focused on the individual. Scholars also learned about emerging models such as secure patient information exchange platforms and mobile-based care that could help reshape how health services are delivere
