For Alana Manga ’93, her journey from studying Biology at Mount Saint Mary College to serving as Registrar and Dean of Student Success at Paris College of Art is a powerful reminder that our paths don’t always follow a straight line

At the Mount, Alana learned the value of student-centered education, mentorship, and building community. Today, she carries those lessons with her as a higher education leader in France.

“I wish I knew that there is no need to rush from goal to goal,” Manga noted. “There’s plenty of time to meander over random interests and seemingly unconnected opportunities, as those experiences may lead to new discoveries of self.”

For many who grow up in the Hudson Valley, the history of the American Revolution is woven into the very landscape. We pass the stone headquarters where George Washington commanded his troops, walk the historic battlegrounds, and study the familiar tales of Patriot triumphs.

But for Kieran J. O’Keefe ’14, the real fascination lay not in the decisions of famous generals, but in the chaotic, ground-level reality of the ordinary citizens who chose the losing side.
