The University of West Georgia Newnan, located at the old historic Newnan Hospital at 80 Jackson Street, has been in operation in Coweta County since 1988, and undergraduate enrollment has more than quadrupled over the past ten years. Coweta County students account for 40% of the UWG Newnan’s enrollment, while 60% represent more than 50 other Geo

rgia counties. The University of West Georgia Newnan continues to offer day and evening core curriculum classes, face-to-face (and online through USG eCore). These courses can get any student started on the path to success in any of the 106 degree programs offered on the main campus in Carrollton. Through the ACCEL program, which covers the cost of tuition, high-performing high school juniors and seniors are encouraged to “Go West Early” and enroll in university core classes in Newnan while still in high school. In addition to the core curriculum, UWG Newnan offers two full undergraduate degree programs—Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education and Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The undergraduate nursing program has grown so rapidly that expansion of both facilities and faculty has become necessary. Graduate degree programs offered at UWG Newnan include M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education, and Master’s in Business Administration. UWG Newnan is also a popular test-proctoring site (where students come to take midterm and final exams) for students taking online courses through USG eCore or through online programs at dozens of universities across the country.

Today, Keep Newnan Beautiful partnered with Nature’s Echo Birds of Prey at Newnan for an engaging wildlife presentation for camp participants.

Campers had the unique opportunity to see live birds of prey up close while learning about their remarkable adaptations, the important role they play in our ecosystem, and the conservation challenges they face. Nature’s Echo’s animal ambassadors sparked curiosity, encouraged environmental stewardship, and provided an unforgettable hands-on learning experience.

Thank you to Nature’s Echo for sharing their knowledge and passion for wildlife conservation with our campers and helping connect them to the natural world.
