From an educator’s perspective, we consistently see how formal interior design education plays a critical role in shaping long-term success in the profession. It goes far beyond teaching tools or software—it develops a structured way of thinking, a disciplined design process, and the ability to connect concept to ex*****on with intention and clarity.
Education also provides students with a strong foundation in design history, theory, and spatial understanding, while fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are essential in real-world practice. Just as importantly, it offers mentorship, critique, and a supportive learning environment where emerging designers can refine their voice and build confidence.
We are especially proud to recognize Rick Campos as an Interior Designers Institute graduate and to celebrate his accomplishments since completing his design education. His continued contributions to the design community reflect the lasting impact that a strong educational foundation can have on a designer’s career trajectory.
While creativity is innate, education helps transform that creativity into a professional practice that is thoughtful, informed, and resilient within an evolving industry.
