A Cartoon in the Real World ???
In Coyote vs. Acme, Wile E. Coyote stays a hand-drawn cartoon while everyone around him is a live actor in a real room. Director Dave Green chose this deliberately; a photorealistic coyote would have hidden the story point that ACME exists in both the human world and the cartoon world.

That choice put the set decorators at the center of the film. Every room had to be believable for the people in it, and also leave space for an animated coyote to be added later.

SET DECOR, the magazine of the Set Decorators Society of America (SDSA), interviewed Set Decorator Wilhelm Pfau SDSA about how he and Production Designer Steve Arnold dressed the film's sets in New Mexico and Washington, DC.
