🌟 Internship Spotlight 🌟

Meet Valeria Mora ’27, a senior studying Finance with minors in Marketing and Data Analytics from San Cristóbal, Venezuela, as well as a Division I athlete on Niagara University’s Women’s Tennis team.

This summer, Valeria is putting her classroom knowledge to work as a Finance Intern with NorthStar Consultants, an NYC-based firm. She landed the internship through a Finance Club networking event in NYC and a faculty referral. A special thank you to Niagara University Board of Trustees member Thomas Gallagher, founder and principal of NorthStar Consultants, for investing not only in her work but in her learning and professional growth.

As a Finance Intern, Valeria conducts market research and financial analysis on commercial real estate and investment management firms, including researching major industry players, and developing client-ready documents and presentations. What has surprised her most is how quickly she has been able to work with real numbers and data, and the opportunity to help present directly to a client!

From the tennis court to the boardroom, Valeria is making the most of her Niagara experience, putting her business education into action and gaining valuable real-world experience this summer! 💜

🌟 Internship Spotlight 🌟

Oksana Dannenberg, a senior studying Food & CPG Marketing with a minor in data analytics is gaining hands-on experience this summer as a Sales Intern with PepsiCo in Piscataway, New Jersey!

After discovering the opportunity on LinkedIn and connecting with PepsiCo representatives at our Food Industry Center of Excellence Summit in Buffalo last fall, determination paid off with an internship at one of the world's leading food and beverage companies.

Her project this summer focuses on improving beverage sales in Wawa convenience stores by analyzing inventory, supporting sales representatives, and creating product displays tailored to local customers.

💬 "I expected this to mainly be an office internship, but it shocked me how much hands-on work I am given in the field."

From collaborating with experienced sales professionals to seeing strategy come to life in the field, this internship is providing an invaluable look at the fast-paced world of consumer packaged goods.

🌟 Student Internship Spotlight 🌟

This summer, Niagara University marketing student Jacob Dubinsky is gaining firsthand experience in New York City in his internship with The Affinity Group, a North American multi-channel food sales & marketing agency.

In his role as Leadership Development Associate, Jacob attended the 70th Annual Specialty Food Association Summer Fancy Food Show at the Javits Center in New York City, June 28-30, 2026. The sold-out event brought together more than 32,000 food industry professionals and 2,500+ exhibitors from 57 countries, providing an incredible opportunity to explore global food trends, innovative products, and industry connections.

From Cali, Colombia to Western New York, Niagara University M.S. Finance student Juan Cardona is gaining valuable hands-on experience this summer as a Sales Intern at West Herr in Lockport, NY.

West Herr Automotive Group is the largest automotive group in New York State with over 50 locations.

Working alongside the sales team, Juan assists with the sales process, supports customer communications, helps build lasting client relationships, and transports vehicles between West Herr locations.

What has stood out most? The people.

"I always heard West Herr had an amazing working environment, but actually being part of it is just different. Everyone’s willingness to help you makes it such an enjoyable place to work."

Juan has gained an understanding of the sales and delivery process sharing that he completed his first vehicle delivery to a customer in Rochester, NY. From preparing the delivery paperwork to answering customer questions, the experience gave him the confidence to put his knowledge into practice.

His biggest takeaway goes beyond the internship itself:

"Finding a good company to work for is much more important than just finding a good salary. A good company will help you grow not only as a professional but also as a person, and West Herr is a perfect example of this."

We're proud to see our business students gaining meaningful experiences that build confidence, strengthen professional skills, and demonstrate the value of finding a workplace where they can truly grow.

Brett is helping manage the movement of goods across global markets, gaining valuable experience in international transportation and supply chain operations.

On Wednesday, May 13, several Niagara supply chain management students and faculty visited the PepsiCo Buffalo Warehouse in Cheektowaga.🥤 🏭 🦅

During the visit, students and faculty learned more about how PepsiCo handles inventory management, capacity planning, and logistics while maintaining the organization’s people-first identity. This visit, coordinated by Phil Catanese, director of centers and college outreach, and Dr Fernando Naranjo, assistant professor of management and SCM Center of Excellence director, reflects Niagara’s commitment to immersing our students in the real world of business.

Future accountants in the making!

The Holzschuh College of Business Administration was proud to welcome local high school students to campus for our second annual Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) event held on May 5, 2026! Students had the opportunity to connect with faculty, current students, alumni, and accounting professionals while exploring the many exciting career paths in the accounting industry.

A special thank you to the New York State Society of CPAs for sponsoring this impactful event and supporting efforts to inspire the next generation of accounting professionals.

Niagara is one of only two universities in Western New York to host a COAP event for high school students. Dr. Lei Han, associate professor of accounting, coordinated this amazing student focused event which also included a campus tour, a presentation on criminal investigations by IRS agents; and a panel discussion featuring accounting practitioners and current Niagara University students.

We also want to recognize Niagara University’s Accounting Society for their leadership and involvement throughout the day, as well as thank our incredible presenters, panelists and alumni for sharing their time and expertise with our students.
