On Wednesday, May 13, several Niagara supply chain management students and faculty visited the PepsiCo Buffalo Warehouse in Cheektowaga.🥤 🏭 🦅

During the visit, students and faculty learned more about how PepsiCo handles inventory management, capacity planning, and logistics while maintaining the organization’s people-first identity. This visit, coordinated by Phil Catanese, director of centers and college outreach, and Dr Fernando Naranjo, assistant professor of management and SCM Center of Excellence director, reflects Niagara’s commitment to immersing our students in the real world of business.

Future accountants in the making!

The Holzschuh College of Business Administration was proud to welcome local high school students to campus for our second annual Career Opportunities in the Accounting Profession (COAP) event held on May 5, 2026! Students had the opportunity to connect with faculty, current students, alumni, and accounting professionals while exploring the many exciting career paths in the accounting industry.

A special thank you to the New York State Society of CPAs for sponsoring this impactful event and supporting efforts to inspire the next generation of accounting professionals.

Niagara is one of only two universities in Western New York to host a COAP event for high school students. Dr. Lei Han, associate professor of accounting, coordinated this amazing student focused event which also included a campus tour, a presentation on criminal investigations by IRS agents; and a panel discussion featuring accounting practitioners and current Niagara University students.

We also want to recognize Niagara University’s Accounting Society for their leadership and involvement throughout the day, as well as thank our incredible presenters, panelists and alumni for sharing their time and expertise with our students.

From campus to Wall Street!

Students from the Holzschuh College of Business Administration Finance Club recently took on New York City during an unforgettable Finance Immersion trip April 20-21, 2026! The trip was coordinated by Dr. Krieg Tidemann, Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Economics, and Professor Chris Hugar, Faculty Fellow of Finance.

They stepped into real-world finance—visiting top firms, networking with successful alumni, and experiencing the energy of the industry firsthand. From asset management to consulting and trading, students gained insight that goes far beyond the classroom.

A Night of Excellence at HCBA!

On April 23, 2026, the Holzschuh College of Business Administration proudly hosted our Honor Societies Induction & Awards Night—an inspiring evening dedicated to celebrating the hard work, leadership, and achievements of our exceptional students.

From the induction of new members into Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Omicron Delta Epsilon, to recognizing our Everett W. Ockerman Awards to our top senior recipients and celebrating our Outstanding graduate students, the night highlighted the very best of business.

We were also proud to recognize participants in our HCBA Mentorship Program, celebrating a year of meaningful connections between students and industry professionals. This program continues to provide invaluable career guidance, real-world insight, and professional growth opportunities for our students.

We were honored to hear from our guest speaker, alumna Ashley Decker, whose insights and journey continue to inspire the next generation of business leaders.

Real-world learning in action!

On April 16, 7 HCBA student teams took on the 3rd Annual Lumsden McCormick CPA Case Competition diving into a health & beauty industry case focused on pricing, costing, expansion, and big business decisions.

Prof. Patrick O'Meara, associate professor of accounting, challenged students in his Cost Management Systems course to analyze the private label health and beauty products industry, applying real-world skills in product pricing, cost analysis, market expansion, and strategic decision-making on new product opportunities.
