Big news for workforce education in Northwest Florida! 🎉

Governor Ron DeSantis has awarded Northwest Florida State College $3 million to develop a new Maritime Fabrication Training Center on our Niceville campus.

The approximately 4,000-square-foot facility will provide hands-on training in composite and metal fabrication and support two new workforce programs:

⚙️ Composite Fabrication and Testing
🔧 Industrial Pipefitting

This investment will prepare students for high-wage, high-skill careers while building the workforce needed by our region’s growing maritime, defense, aerospace and advanced manufacturing industries.

We are grateful to Governor DeSantis, Florida Commerce Secretary Alex Kelly and the many legislative, community and industry partners who helped make this opportunity possible.

Congratulations to Dr. Cristie Kedroski on her induction into the 2026 Okaloosa County Women’s Hall of Fame!

Recognized in the Community Service category, Dr. Kedroski has dedicated more than 15 years to advancing Northwest Florida State College and strengthening the community we serve. During her tenure, she helped grow the NWFSC Foundation’s endowment from $36 million to more than $62 million, oversaw $75 million in grants and stepped forward to serve as interim president in 2024.

Her leadership, service and lasting impact continue to open doors and create opportunities throughout our region. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor and grateful for all Dr. Kedroski has done for NWFSC and Northwest Florida. ❤️🖤
