We have a new COMbird in Fell Hall this year! Dr. Jessica Payne joined us from the University of Alabama in August, in a position shared between sports communication and public relations. In a couple of short months, she is already making an impact! Sports Girls Club asked her to be their advisor, she's had a couple publications, built a new course for spring, and made a reputation as a fantastic instructor. We will all try to keep up. Welcome, Dr. Payne!

WZND continues its reign as one of the best (we all know it is THE best) college radio stations in the land, and it's time to celebrate their NINE first place Silver Dome Awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association! Our own Dr. Joe Blaney frequently rides his bike to work, but now he is taking biking to the next level to support WZND students! He's been participating in the Big BAM: Bike Across Missouri, from October 11–17 to build financial support to send seven WZND students to the Broadcast Education Association convention this April.

Our annual COM Leadership Panel is coming up next Friday, Oct 23, from 2-3 pm, as a part of and and for our current COM students! In Fell 280 (and there will be snacks).

We have three new(-ish) registered student organizations (RSOs) in the School of Communication and, while we will be featuring all 12 of our RSOs throughout the semester, we are excited to talk about our newest ones first!

COMbassadors was founded on social connection, direction, and community for all communication students, while also welcoming students from other majors. They just hosted a field day on the Quad, providing that social connection and community they strive for! Meetings are every other week on Tuesdays, see their profile for more details!
