Today marked the official kickoff of the Heartland Community College and John A. Logan College Administrative Exchange Program.

Our teams are working hard this summer to share best practices and develop a scalable model for future collegiate exchanges.

As another Juneteenth celebration comes to an end, we’re rolling it back to look at some of the beautiful people who came out today!

We absolutely enjoyed visiting with everyone! Special thanks to our Navigator, Mia Jackson Tyus, our Career Center Coordinator, Jennifer Caldwell, and our Director, Nayoka Griffis, for representing WEI at Heartland Community College and the Black Student Union 🤝✨

Tomorrow marks the end of an incredible chapter for our Assistant Director, Tommy Johnson!

Tommy's dedication, leadership, and impact on our students, staff and community has been nothing short of amazing.

While we are sad to see him go, we are incredibly grateful for the legacy of support, hard work, and positivity he leaves behind.

And just like that, the 2026 WEI Symposium comes to an end!

As the host College, our team worked alongside our ICCB and ICSPS partners to make this two-day conference one to remember.

We laughed, we smiled, and worked hard—all staying centered on our mission to advance equity and student success.

A very special thank you to the community partners, employer partners, colleagues, college presidents, students, family, and friends who showed up to support this mission.

The conference is over but the work continues.... We're exhausted, yet our hearts are filled with gratitude and thanks! 🎉

Day 1 of the WEI Symposium was filled with incredible energy, meaningful connections, and lots of smiles.

It was inspiring to see so many individuals from across the state come together to support student success and workforce development.

We are head into our final day! Director Nayoka Griffis, Assistant Director Tommy Johnson, HCC Trustee / Founder of Dreams are Possible, Mary Campbell, and recent WEI graduate Jaleesa Owens will discuss our ongoing collaboration with Community Partner Dreams are Possible.
