Queer Coalition at Illinois State University Queer Coalition is an official Illinois State University affinity group. Our first Executive Board was elected on Jan. 29, 2021.

It will be the purpose of the Queer Coalition to:

1. Promote the diverse cultures of the LGBTQ2IA+ community at ISU and in the local area;

2. Represent the interests, needs, and concerns of LGBTQ2IA+ faculty, staff, and students;

3. Encourage communication, engagement, and support among the LGBTQ2IA+ community;

4. Develop cooperative relationships in the ISU and local communities;

5. Assist ISU with the recruitment and retention of LGBTQ2IA+ faculty, staff, and students;

6. Support LGBTQ2IA+ students at ISU by offering scholarships when funding is available;

7. Foreground the fact that all forms of oppression are interconnected and by so doing support and work toward racial justice. The academic mission of the former LGBT/Queer Studies and Services Institute has been absorbed by the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Illinois State University (https://wgs.illinoisstate.edu/).

Want to know more about trans people? Come to TransMission on Thursday, November 5th! Much disinformation is being spread about trans people today, but TransMission seeks to set the record straight in our Bloomington-Normal community with this public Q&A event.

If you want to learn more about what trans people are *really* like, this is the place where you can ask questions and learn more about trans people in a safe, judgement-free environment. All earnest questions will be considered! Clunky language and basic questions are fine (that’s why you’re here, after all!), but questions are expected to be in good faith; antagonistic remarks will be filtered out.
