(09 OCT 2026) The Sooner Battalion joined UT NROTC for the final day of the annual Run to Dallas (RTD), bringing both units together ahead of the Red River Rivalry.

The day began with students from both units completing their respective runs by carrying their game balls around the Cotton Bowl. The units then came together for a series of friendly competitions, including volleyball, basketball, dodgeball, spikeball, and tug of war.

While our universities may be rivals on the field, the event provided an opportunity to build camaraderie, strengthen relationships, and reinforce our shared commitment to serving as future Navy and Marine Corps officers.

Thank you to UT NROTC for joining us for a great day of competition and fellowship. BOOMER SOONER!

(08 OCT 2026) The Sooner Battalion completed the second day of its annual Run to Dallas (RTD), continuing the longstanding tradition ahead of the Red River Rivalry this Saturday!

Throughout the two-day journey, our Midshipmen have worked together to carry the game ball south, demonstrating teamwork, perseverance, and pride in the University of Oklahoma.

Today, the students crossed the Red River into Texas. Tomorrow, the Sooner Battalion will wrap up the annual tradition by joining our counterparts from the University of Texas at the Cotton Bowl ahead of the Red River Rivalry. BOOMER!

(07 OCT 2026) The Sooner Battalion kicked off the first day of the annual Run to Dallas (RTD), continuing a longstanding tradition leading up to the Red River Rivalry between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas!
Throughout the journey, our students will work together to carry the game ball toward Dallas, demonstrating teamwork, determination, and pride in the University of Oklahoma.

(18 SEP 2026) The Sooner Battalion celebrated an exciting milestone as our senior Navy-option Midshipmen received their Service Selection results and learned which communities they will join following commissioning.
After years of hard work and preparation, our seniors were selected for the following communities:

MIDN 1/C Cave: Surface Warfare Officer
MIDN 1/C Davis: Submarine Officer
MIDN 1/C Fulton: Student Naval Aviator
MIDN 1/C Hawkins: Surface Warfare Officer

MIDN 1/C Wells: Oceanography Officer

(18 SEP 2026) The Sooner Battalion hosted its annual Alumni BBQ, bringing together current Midshipmen, staff, and former members of the Battalion for an evening of food and fellowship.

The event gave Midshipmen the opportunity to connect with Sooner Battalion alumni, hear about their experiences in the Fleet, and learn from those who once stood in their shoes.

Thank you to the OU NROTC Alumni for their continued support of our Midshipmen and the Sooner Battalion. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring together past, present, and future leaders of our Navy and Marine Corps.

(17 SEP 2026) During Drill, the Sooner Battalion recognized the accomplishments of our Midshipmen from the Spring 2026 semester during the Spring Awards Ceremony.
Midshipmen were recognized for their achievements in academics, physical fitness, leadership, military aptitude, and overall performance. Academic awards were presented to those who earned a term GPA of 3.50 or higher, while the Physical Fitness Award recognized Navy-option Midshipmen who achieved an Outstanding score on the PFA and Marine-option Midshipmen who scored above a 285 on the PFT.

Midshipmen who demonstrated excellence across academics, physical fitness, swimming, and military aptitude were inducted into the Trident Honor Society.
MIDN Lawrence received the Leadership Award for exemplary conduct and leadership throughout the Spring 2026 semester, while MIDN Howry received the All Around Performance Award for outstanding performance in academics, physical fitness, community service, and military criteria.

Congratulations to all of our hardworking Midshipmen who were recognized for their achievements and dedication to the Sooner Battalion!

(28 AUG 2026) Navy, Army, and Air Force ROTC came together Friday for a joint Meat Burn, bringing cadets and midshipmen from the University of Oklahoma together for an afternoon of food and camaraderie.
The event provided an opportunity for members of each ROTC program to connect outside of training, strengthen relationships, and build camaraderie among future officers across the services.
A special thank you to the Air Warrior Courage Foundation for joining us and supporting the event.
We look forward to continuing to strengthen the bonds between our ROTC programs throughout the year!

This summer, Sooner Battalion Midshipmen gained firsthand experience across the Navy and Marine Corps through their respective summer training programs.
3/C Midshipmen attended Career Orientation and Training for Midshipmen (CORTRAMID), where they were introduced to the Aviation, Surface Warfare, Submarine, and Marine Corps communities.
2/C Midshipmen continued their development through second-class cruises, serving alongside Sailors aboard surface ships or submarines and gaining a better understanding of life in the Fleet.
Navy-option 1/C Midshipmen completed their first-class cruises experiencing the responsibilities and expectations of future naval officers, while Marine-option 1/C Midshipmen attended Officer Candidates School (OCS), completing a major step toward earning their commissions as Marine Corps officers.
From the Fleet to the field, summer cruise provided our Midshipmen with valuable experience as they continue preparing to lead Sailors and Marines.

(21 AUG 2026) The Midshipmen of the Class of 2030 wrapped up their final day of New Student Orientation (NSO).
The day began with mission-based physical training (PT), followed by a unit polo inspection. Midshipmen then participated in an advisor panel and campus tours before concluding NSO with a full battalion BBQ.
After four days of training, instruction, and preparation, the Class of 2030 is ready to begin their journey as members of the Sooner Battalion.
