You are invited to the 2026 Advanced Materials Workshop!

This one-day event brings together faculty, students, startups, and industry leaders to explore advances in materials science across energy, biotechnology, aerospace, semiconductors, and AI/ML. The workshop will feature keynote talks and panel discussions as well as a Student Poster Session and a Student 3-Minute Talk session, with $3,000 in total awards.

A trailblazer in improving global sanitation, Barbara Evans has been named the recipient of the University of Oklahoma’s ninth International Water Prize. This biennial award is sponsored by the OU Water Technologies for Emerging Regions (WaTER) Center, housed in the Gallogly College of Engineering, and is presented to individuals who have made notable contributions to the field of water supply and sanitation for developing regions.

Evans is a leader in public health engineering and urban sanitation at the University of Leeds, where she serves as a professor and the chair in Public Health Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering.

Gallogly College of Engineering researcher Dr. Feng Yan has received the NIH K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award to advance innovative imaging technologies for assessing donor liver viability before transplantation.

Yan, a postdoctoral research fellow in the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering and a member of the Biophotonic Imaging Laboratory, received the highly competitive award from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). His project, “Multimodal Imaging Platform for Pre-Transplantation Donor Liver Viability Assessment,” will develop advanced imaging technologies to provide a more comprehensive assessment of donor livers before transplantation, with the goal of improving transplant outcomes.

NEWS: As the University of Oklahoma experiences record-setting enrollment, driving 45% growth in incoming class sizes over the past six years, a team of faculty and staff received a major grant this summer that will help high-achieving, low-income STEM students learn and succeed.

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded OU with a roughly $2 million Scholarships in STEM grant. The funding will establish scholarships for approximately 24 undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in biomedical, civil, chemical, and petroleum and geoenergy engineering.
