The University of Oklahoma’s School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering (SCBME) was pleased to welcome Dr. Jennifer H. Elisseeff, F. Stuart Hodgson Professor at Johns Hopkins University and Head of the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, as a featured speaker in our Fall 2026 Seminar Series.

Dr. Elisseeff presented “Cell Networks in Tissue Health and Disease,” exploring how interactions between immune cells and surrounding tissues influence healing, aging, and disease. Her presentation highlighted the role of immune cell communication in tissue repair and how understanding these processes could lead to new therapeutic approaches.

We are grateful to Dr. Vivek Bajpai for hosting Dr. Elisseeff and helping bring this engaging seminar to the SCBME community.

We’re finally sharing some highlights from our annual Welcome Back Tailgate!

🧬 A first for OU—and an exciting step forward for bioprocessing!

OU has launched its first-ever official micro-credential program, focused on the growing field of bioprocessing.

Gallogly College of Engineering Dean John Klier highlights the program’s role in providing industry-aligned training while strengthening Oklahoma’s growing bioeconomy.

Through hands-on training at OU’s Bioprocessing Core Facility, participants will gain real-world skills for the biotechnology and biomanufacturing industries.
