Another fun Street Photography class today. It was field trip day to the always wonderful

The students got to spend some time learning about the resident artist Tommy Kha, and received the opportunity to work with him on his “Chain Letter Project” using simple disposable cameras.

After that the students took in iconic photographs from some of the finest photographers throughout history in the current “Dynamic Duos” exhibit.

Then it was on to the fascinating and whimsical drawings and sculptural work of June Leaf.

We had a really great Street Photography class on Monday. The students in the Middlesex Community College Department of Communication, Art, & Design got to experience and hear about the “not well known” Lowell Photographer, Annie Powell.

Annie photographed potholes and broken sidewalks for .20 cents a photo for the Lowell city engineers because it was cheaper to send her than a city engineer out to assess the issue. She would document the damage, but then made a more personal photographs at the location too.

Bernie Zelitch is the founder and archivist of byannipowell.org

He was gracious enough to come to our class and inform our students about the beautiful photography by Annie Powell, and the Chasing Annie Powell - 100 Poster Project.

Please take a look at her work and support the 100 posters project. Let’s not forget about the photographers who continue to document our changing city over time.

A huge round of applause to our talented Visual Design student, Rachell Hiraldo, for her amazing winning poster design for the upcoming MCC Theatre production of “Rumors” by Neil Simon! 🎭✨
