Last Friday, Merrimack hosted 55 local high school students and their educators for “Is Accounting for Me?” This event featured speakers from MassCPAs, Merrimack Admissions and the Girard School of Business Accounting Department.

The high school students got to participate and ask questions in an interactive session led by and an Expert Panel featuring partners at real accounting firms like PKFOD and Outsourced Management Accounting.

Ella Cormier ‘25, a student-athlete in the Girard School of Business, turned her accounting co-op experience into a full-time career at Deloitte before she even graduated! Ella first made the connection with Deloitte at a Meet the Accounting Firms event during her sophomore year.

“It was highly suggested by my accounting professors. After meeting professionals from Deloitte at this event, I was given the opportunity to do a co-op and internship at Deloitte. During my co-op and internships, I completed assignments that were meaningful and useful to my engagement team and impacted our audit as a whole. The skills and knowledge I gained from my internships have prepared me for when I begin full-time.”
