Manchester students Charlie Baker, Felicity Bohman, and Eli Childress will reflect on their summer internships through the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty (SHECP). Their experiences included working with refugees in Atlanta, survivors of human trafficking in Savannah, and people experiencing homelessness who need medical care in Louisville. VIAs are free and open to the public. Join us.

We were honored to celebrate the 2015 2016 women’s cross country and track and field teams as Hall of Fame class of 2026 inductees. These teams enjoyed one of the most successful seasons in Manchester history, sweeping HCAC championships in cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field. Led by standout performances from Mariah Jordan and Shay Aator, the Spartans earned multiple individual conference titles, numerous All-HCAC honors and two NCAA national championship appearances. Congratulations teams!

Trey Forbes ‘11 is one of the most accomplished hitters in Manchester baseball history, earning NCAA division III All-American honors after a record-setting senior season in 2011. He finished his career with 159 hits, 40 doubles, 96 RBIs and 130 runs scored, while posting one of the finest offensive seasons ever by a Spartan with a .420 batting average, 22 doubles and 71 hits in his final year. Congratulations Trey on being a 2026 Hall of Fame class inductee.

Kristen Frick ‘05 Flory was inducted into the Spartan athletics Hall of Fame class of 2026 last night. Kristen was a cornerstone of Manchester‘s women’s tennis team helping lead the Spartans to four consecutive HCAC championships while competing at number one singles and number one doubles throughout her career. A four-time all HCAC selection and the 2004 HCAC Most Valuable Player, she compiled remarkable career records of 55-5 in singles and 60-6 doubles. Congratulations Kristen!

Alumni Honor Award recipient Keith Strauss ‘74 has dedicated his career to advancing safer medical imaging for children and transforming pediatric radiology practices worldwide. After earning his degree from Manchester and a masters in radiology physics from the University of Chicago, he became a pioneer in pediatric radiology physics serving as the first full-time diagnostic radiology physicist at both Boston Children’s Hospital and Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center. Recognizing the unique needs of pediatric patients, Strauss helped develop imaging protocols that significantly reduced radiation exposure while maintaining high-quality diagnostic images. He was also a founding leader of the Image Gently Alliance, an international initiative promoting safe pediatric imaging.

Last night we recognized Shawn Kobb ‘99 as our alumni honor award recipient. Kobb has dedicated more than two decades to the United States foreign service building a career centered on diplomacy, cultural exchange and international engagement. A communication studies graduate of Manchester University, he currently serves as the management officer at the US Embassy in Slovenia overseeing operations that support multiple US government agencies. Throughout his distinguished career, Kobb has held assignments in Hungary, Ukraine, the Bahamas, Afghanistan, Austria, and Washington DC fostering international understanding and strengthening global partnerships. Congratulations Shawn.

The young alumni outstanding achievement award recipient is Dr. Andrea Mekonnen ‘12 ‘16, who was part of Manchester University’s inaugural doctor of pharmacy class. She has focused her career on improving healthcare access for underserved communities. As senior director of pharmacy at Neighborhood Health Clinic in Fort Wayne she has grown pharmacy services, led the development of community based pharmacies and advanced programs that increase access to essential medications and chronic disease care. A dedicated advocate for health equity, she has helped shaped pharmacy policy through her service on the Indiana Pharmacists Association Legislative and Regulatory Council.
