Dr. Earle has inspired generations of marine scientists, explorers, and ocean advocates to better understand and protect our blue planet. Her lifelong commitment to ocean conservation is a powerful reminder that science, exploration, and community can work together to create meaningful change.

At the Florida Keys and Ten Thousand Islands Hope Spot, including Biscayne Bay, we are working to better understand, restore, and protect the ecosystems that make South Florida so extraordinary. From coral reefs and seagrass meadows to mangroves and coastal waters, these habitats support incredible biodiversity and connect our communities to the ocean.

Throwback to when FIU scientists .jpg & were in the field off the coast of West Palm Beach, Florida, conducting shark research and outreach in collaboration with the ANGARI Foundation.

Led by shark scientist the team tagged and released three nurse sharks and spotted a great hammerhead during the expedition. 🦈

Undergraduate student, Lorenzo Marro, went shark tagging in Everglades National Park with the Heithaus Lab for Marine Community & Behavioral Ecology to help gather valuable field data to study shark behavior and distribution.
