Spent our final night as a group with a great team dinner at Founding Farmers! Then a leisurely walk around the tidal basin and memorials at night! What a fun night together and perfect ending to the 2026 SCCJ Washington DC Experience!
Here are today's student leaders reflection for the day:
"I enjoyed today's tours with the US Supreme Court Police, the US Capitol Police, and LTC Song at the Pentagon. I learned so much about two lesser-known DC law enforcement agencies and how they contribute to the overall mission of national security. It was an incredible privilege to be escorted to areas of the Supreme Court, Capitol building, and Pentagon that members of the general public don't typically get to see. Being granted access to those areas is a testament to the power of Norwich's alumni network, which is scattered across every agency and branch of the armed forces. If I've learned anything this week, it's that the access the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice provides is unmatched. I am thankful for the connections I've made this week, which are the beginnings of many important professional relationships that will come in handy in the future." Joseph - Class of 2026
"Today our group had the opportunity to visit both the United States Supreme Court and the United States Capitol. At the Supreme Court, we were able to explore several historic areas, including the Supreme Court Library and the courtroom itself. Throughout the building we observed impressive architecture and numerous historical artifacts that reflect the Court’s long-standing role in shaping the nation’s legal system. At the Capitol, we had a similar experience learning about the history and significance of the building. We viewed statues honoring influential figures from American history and explored spaces that many of us had previously only seen through media or textbooks. Being able to see these locations in person provided a much deeper appreciation for the institutions that help govern the country. Later in the afternoon, our incoming Commandant, COL Mark Denton, arranged an incredible opportunity for us to tour the Pentagon. During the visit, we learned about the impact that the events of September 11th had on the building and its personnel. We also had the chance to meet several high-ranking Army leaders and learn more about their roles. Overall, it was a memorable day filled with meaningful experiences and unique opportunities." "Once again, our group had an unforgettable day! Instead of only visiting 2 places, we visited 3 major national buildings: the Supreme Court of the U.S. with the U.S. Supreme Court Police, the U.S. Capitol Building with the U.S. Capitol Police, and the Pentagon with COL Denton NU’97, and soon to be 57th Commandant of the Norwich University Corps of Cadets. Both the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Capitol Building were filled with our nation’s history and heritage, both of which we learned a lot about today from the in-depth and behind-the-scenes tours we received. Fun fact: there is a gym with a basketball court located directly above the Supreme Court’s Chambers, where the Supreme Court Justices meet to deliberate cases affecting our nation and its Constitution. As on other days, we learned a lot about the day-to-day duties of both agencies and their roles in protecting the people and the buildings that run the country, on both the legislative and judicial sides of the government. The Pentagon was the next place we visited, and, again, WOW! It was absolutely amazing being able to see where the Department of War carries out all of the orders for all of the U.S. Military Services and DOW agencies to aid in the protection and defense of our nation. We also had the opportunity to sit and hear about what the Army Criminal Investigation Division does for the Department of the Army with Special Agent Andrew Johnson. We finished the day off by walking around Washington, DC, looking at all of the national monuments lit up at night. Absolutely breathtaking!" Micah - Class of 2028
