Norwich University softball standout Madison DeCota has been named a 2026 CSC NCAA Division III Academic All-America Second Team honoree!

One of just 33 Division III softball student-athletes selected nationwide, DeCota becomes the 25th CSC Academic All-American in Norwich history and only the second softball player in program history to earn the distinction.

The honor caps a remarkable junior season for DeCota, who was named GNAC Player of the Year after leading the conference in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, triples, and total bases. An exercise science major, she has also earned President's List recognition in five of her first six semesters while balancing her responsibilities as a student-athlete, captain, mentor, and community volunteer.

Academic All-America is widely regarded as one of the highest honors in collegiate athletics, recognizing the rare combination of elite athletic achievement and academic excellence.

The Norwich University women's ice hockey program has announced the addition of Jess Michals as an assistant coach ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Michals joins the Cadets after serving as an assistant coach at King's College and brings experience in recruiting, player development, scouting, video analysis, and practice planning. A former four-year player at Endicott College, she helped the Gulls reach two NCAA Tournaments and capture multiple conference championships during her collegiate career.

She joins a Norwich staff led by Head Coach Justin Simpson after a historic 2025-26 campaign that saw the Cadets win the inaugural Little East Conference regular-season and tournament championships while advancing to the NCAA Frozen Four.

The Norwich University football program has announced the addition of Keith Emery as Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach.

Emery brings more than three decades of coaching experience to Northfield, including a 13-year run as head coach at Western New England University, where he became the winningest coach in program history with 86 victories, four NCAA Championship appearances, and four conference championships.

His coaching résumé also includes stops at Johns Hopkins University, Presbyterian College, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and Charlotte Catholic High School, where he recently led the Cougars to consecutive third-round state playoff appearances.

Head Coach Bill Russell called Emery "one of the best coaches and defensive minds in New England" and praised the experience and leadership he will bring to the Cadet program.

🥍 𝐀𝐋𝐋-𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐑 𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐓 🥍

Norwich University men's lacrosse senior Drew Fleury has been selected to compete in the 2026 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) East-West Senior All-Star Game tonight at Trinity College.

A First Team All-GNAC selection this spring, Fleury finished his senior season with 65 points on 44 goals and 21 assists while helping lead the Cadets back to the GNAC Semifinals.

He becomes the 33rd player in program history selected to the NEILA Senior All-Star Game and the sixth Cadet to earn the honor this century.

The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Hartford, Connecticut.

The 2026-27 Norwich University men's ice hockey schedule is now available, and it features one of the most anticipated exhibition matchups in program history.

The Cadets will host NCAA Division I Dartmouth College in an exhibition on Saturday, Oct. 17 during Homecoming Weekend before opening a season that includes the defense of Norwich's inaugural Little East Conference regular season and tournament championships.

Norwich returns after a 19-6-4 campaign that saw the Cadets capture both LEC titles, advance to the NCAA Tournament, and reach the national quarterfinals. The schedule also features marquee matchups with the University of New England, Utica University, Middlebury College, Babson College, and the annual Northfield Savings Bank Holiday Tournament.

Norwich University has named Carrick Pell as the next head coach of the men's rugby program.

Pell arrives in Northfield following a highly successful tenure at Babson College, where he transformed the Beavers into one of the nation's top collegiate rugby programs. His teams captured NCR national championships in both 15s and 7s during the 2023 season and rose from Division IV to Division I-AA competition.

A veteran of both the United States Marine Corps and United States Air Force, Pell brings more than a decade of head coaching experience, a championship résumé, and a leadership philosophy centered on developing young men on and off the pitch.

He succeeds Bob Weggler, whose 25-year tenure established Norwich as one of the most respected rugby programs in the country.

"When people ask what it means to have been selected as the Head Men's Rugby Coach at Norwich University, the answer is simple: it is incredibly humbling."

After seven seasons leading Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving, Jennifer Cournoyer is stepping down from her position.

During her tenure, Cournoyer guided the Cadets through one of the most successful eras in program history, helping Norwich capture nine GNAC team championships, including eight combined titles over the final four seasons. Under her leadership, the men's and women's programs each won four consecutive conference championships from 2023-26 while producing conference champions, major award winners, record-holders, ECAC qualifiers, NCAA Diving Regional qualifiers, and two GNAC Athletes of the Year.

Beyond the championships, Coach Cournoyer built a culture centered on growth, excellence, leadership, and student-athlete development that will continue to shape Norwich Swimming & Diving for years to come.
