Multicultural Alumni Network (MCAN), Carleton College The Multicultural Alumni Network (MCAN) at Carleton College supports alumni and students of color Allies to these endeavors are welcomed.

The Multicultural Alumni Network (MCAN) at Carleton College exists to support alumni efforts on behalf of students and alumni who identify as persons of color. The purpose of the MCAN is to broaden and support the College's overall educational, admissions, career, and fundraising programs, particularly as these programs relate to the enrichment of its students and alumni of color. MCAN operates ar

ound the concept of the Circle of Mentorship, which describes the relationship multicultural alumni have with Carleton, current students, and fellow alumni. Through involvement with Carleton that includes everything from connecting prospective students to the College, to supporting and mentoring current students, to engaging with other alumni, MCAN works to build a multicultural community of mutual support and engagement. The goals and objectives of MCAN are:

-to aid in the recruitment of students of color
-to aid in the retention of students of color
-to address the non-academic needs of students of color to help create a more nurturing environment on campus
-to increase faculty and staff diversity
-to facilitate an active relationship between Carleton and alumni of color

This collaboration between Carleton’s Multicultural Alumni Network and Out After Carleton alumni groups is bringing back Carls for a weekend of connection, community, and healing!

The time is NOW! Registration for Our Family Gathering is officially open!!!

With activities focused on healing connections, this will be a weekend packed with novelty and nostalgia- PLUS Jonathan Capehart '89 will be joining us as Convocation speaker!

In October, MCAN is teaming up with Out After Carleton to celebrate the incredible alumni that make up our groups and we are honored to be joined by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jonathan Capehart ‘89 who will be speaking at Friday Convocation during Our Family Gathering!
