Oh wow, how times have changed in the funeral industry!

Today’s all-women team included a fifth-generation licensed funeral director, a licensed funeral director who came to Massachusetts from the Midwest, a funeral attendant who is a retired Chief Correctional Officer, and a mortuary science student just beginning her journey into funeral service.

Funeral service truly can be a rewarding career at any stage of life. If you’re a woman looking for a new path or a career change, there’s a place for you in this profession.

National Grief Awareness Day is August 30th. This day recognizes that the time it takes to heal from loss doesn't have a prescribed course. It also reminds us that closure comes in many forms – when a loved one dies the void they leave affects everyone differently.

How can you honor National Grief Awareness Day? Take stock of those in your life who have been affected by a form of loss. Offer to listen to a friend. Send a message letting them know they are never far from your mind. If you find you are suffering from grief, know that it's natural. You're not alone, and it's okay to ask for help if you feel your grief is overwhelming.
