Undergraduate Sociology at University of Notre Dame The Sociology Department at the University of Notre Dame is home to faculty and academic programs

The Sociology Department is home to outstanding faculty and academic programs and serves as a center for innovative research. The department's signature strengths are in cultural sociology, the sociology of education, political sociology and social movements, and the sociology of religion. We offer three degrees through our undergraduate and graduate programs: a bachelor of arts (B.A.), a master o

f arts (M.A.), and a doctorate (Ph.D.) Undergraduate Program:

Our undergraduate students have numerous opportunities to engage in research. Sociology majors can participate in research teams led by faculty and, in some cases, serve as a professor’s research assistant. We also offer an honors track that is especially valuable to students who are planning to go on to graduate school. Our undergraduate students have won numerous awards for their independent research and have published in academic journals. They also regularly do internships during summer and, during the academic year, participate actively in the department’s Sociology Club.
