Join us this Thursday, March 26, at 7:30pm in the Philbin Studio Theatre for a staged reading of George Washington’s Mexican Birthday!

Set in Laredo, Texas, a group of high school students prepares for the month-long George Washington Birthday Celebration - where tradition, identity, and ambition collide.

The staged reading of this full-length play will be followed by a conversation with Dolores Diaz, moderated by Professor Anne García-Romero.

This is a free but ticketed event! Tickets can be reserved at performingarts.nd.edu or at the link in our bio.

The Department of Film, Television, and Theatre is excited to announce the schedule for the 2026 - 2027 theatre season! Information on how to purchase tickets for these performances will be announced at a later date.

The Department is also incredibly excited to announce the student director for the 26/27 theatre season, Logan Schlitt! Schlitt will be directing the play “These Shining Lives” by Melanie Marnich. This play shares the historical story of a group of four women who worked as dial painters in the 1920s. However, they quickly become deathly ill due to the consumption of radium from the factory’s paint. While fighting for their rights as workers and their lives as young feminists, these women learn to use their voices to demand justice, cherish their friendships, and live their lives to the fullest.

And lastly, we would also like to announce that the next New Works Lab musical will be “Moving Thomas Sullivan” by Ben Warren Flynn! This story follows a young man who lives and performs music in a busy metropolitan train station. The station is a metaphor however, for the grief that keeps him stuck in place, while the people around him try to help him move forward.

Again, stay on the lookout for more information on when to purchase tickets for the 26/27 season! And don’t forget to pick up your tickets for our final performance of the 25/26 season, “ONCE”!
