Join us as we share the sacred and healing teachings of Tonantzin-Guadalupe and their significance for us almost 500 years after her apparitions. Maestra Patricia Chicueyi Coatl will speak on many elements of this great history, contextualized in the era of the great pandemia of the early years of the colonization of MesoAmerica. Maestra will share about the Nican Mopohua, the apparitions, the young Nahuatl scholars, and the healing words and actions that Tonantzin has passed on to us through them. Gather together as we review: Who is Tonantzin-Guadalupe? Why should we hear from her even if we don’t believe in religion? Why is Tonantzin a strong revolutionary and decolonial figure for us?
In the midst of a very dangerous pandemic “so great and universal” that “many have died and many more continue to die” a group of Nahuatl scholars devoted themselves to the protection of Indigenous knowledge. They gathered to learn about the Matiliztli, the sacred knowledge that Tonantzin brought to all of them, to all her beloved people, those who have suffered so much, to help them free themselves from the many oppressions by reclaiming their true identity, by reclaiming their human dignity.
