🦇Join us for a hands-on training day at our Maryland 4-H Education and Camping Center in Swanton on May 28! Space is limited—please register by May 10.

Hear from DNR experts about Maryland’s bats and White-Nose Syndrome, and learn from University of Maryland Extension about mosquito management and wildlife-friendly lighting. Enjoy a tour of the camp and help build bat houses for the site.

This free event includes lunch, with an optional donation jar to help offset costs. You’re also welcome to bring a picnic-style lunch.

We had snow in Garrett County last night and more cold weather for this evening!

Just a reminder that we still have cold weather coming! If you planted out tender plants, they will need protection from the elements in the next couple days! Examples of these plants are beans, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers and more!

If you're up-to-date on our Facebook posts, you'll know that our Accident Library has an awesome collection of gardening tools available for checkout. (In fact, we just reminded you this morning!) But we bet you didn't know that they now have a Seed Library* you can visit to help all of your homegrown produce dreams come true!

Choose from beans, peas, lettuce, squash/zucchini, peppers, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, corn, carrots, sunflowers, and herbs. We ask that you take only what you need so that there are enough seeds for everyone, and that you check out at the service desk before leaving the library.
