Depending on the day, Lucas Daley ’26 is a nuclear policy researcher, learning languages such as Russian and Hindi, playing guitar in a band, or practicing combat sports.
The politics, economics, and Russian triple major has successfully bridged the gap between academic research, international policy, and personal passions, earning a Critical Language Scholarship and a prestigious James C. Gaither Junior Fellowship.
His work in nuclear energy diplomacy and nonproliferation reflects a deep commitment to understanding global security through multiple lenses.
“What drew me to Oberlin… [is] the ability to pursue different fields of study in depth, simultaneously," he says. "At most schools you’d have to choose. To me, they’re deeply connected.”
Balancing rigorous academics with creative expression and physical discipline, Lucas is forging his own path and redefining what it means to be interdisciplinary.
