This past academic year, the Art Library asked our students to highlight our unique collection of artists' books. The students were tasked with taking pictures of an artist's book of their choosing and then writing a short explanation of their feelings, experiences, or interest in the specific piece. Artist's Book: Cubegg
Creator: Guttorm Guttormsgaard
Review by Vanity '26
"The harsh angular geometry of the polygon and the rounded smoothness of the egg may seem like they would be diametrically opposed forces, yet they combine in Cubegg to make constructions which are greater and more compelling than the sum of their parts. This book brings to mind for me the question of what is natural and what is artificial, and if there is or should be any meaningful difference between the two. I love how the shapes and colors combine, contrast, and pop on the page. I also really like how the pages build on one another: each page is not a single image, but a layer that can be added to the picture before and behind it." -Vanity, OC 2026
