Values:

Gender Equity - We aim to strengthen and improve the lives of women and their communities through increasing pathways to resources and opportunities. Intersectionality - We affirm the dignity and worth of all individuals and strive to center the experiences of marginalized communities. We are committed to the ongoing integration of, and emphasis on, power and privilege across the core components of our work in recognition of how gender intersects with other points of identity. Advocacy - We provide comprehensive support and advocacy services to victims/survivors, focusing on immediate and long-term safety, empowerment, dignity, and hope. In collaboration with the community, we strive to end violence through education, accountability, and social justice.

Mark your calendars, Wildcats! Here are all our events for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We had our first event yesterday, but there are still 3 more ways to get involved:

Clothesline Project Display

Stop by to view the display and learn more about the impact of domestic violence.

Lotería Para La Humanidad
SU-312 | Tues., Oct. 13 | 12:00–1:30 PM
Play a violence-prevention-inspired game of Lotería and win prizes!

Candlelight Display
SU-323 | Thurs., Oct. 29 | 9:00 AM–4:00 PM
Honor lives lost to domestic violence, show support for survivors, and add to our display. Participants will receive a free DVAM rubber duck!

Join us throughout October as we work together to raise awareness, support survivors, and promote violence-free communities.

Today is Menstrual Hygiene Day, held every year on May 28 to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and combat period stigma. The date is meaningful because May is the 5th month, representing the average 5 days of a period, and 28 stands for the average cycle length. Period poverty and r**e culture are connected, as both reinforce stigma, shame, and silence around menstruation and bodily autonomy. Safe@Weber offers free menstrual products to help make the campus a safer place for all students

A video addressing period poverty and bodily shame, highlighting the connection between period poverty and r**e culture by noting that imposing shame on individuals about their bodies discourages them from discussing abuse. It says that no one should have to miss school work or daily life due to lack of a period products and concludes by showcasing the Safe@Weber Resource Pantry which provides free menstrual products for students.
