🎾 The IVCC women’s tennis opener was certainly one to remember, featuring two rain delays and shortened matches due to unexpected pop-up storms throughout the day. The team handled everything with grace and rolled with the punches.

The Eagles played 9 matches and won all 6 completed matches, but ultimately had to abandon the final three singles matches on the court due to more rain. Full match victories were secured by all of the doubles teams (8-6, 8-0, 8-3) and 3 singles matches (Izzy Pecchio 6-0 and 6-4, Raleigh Leininger 6-0 and 6-0, Phoebe Shetterly 6-0 and 6-2).

The Eagles' next meet is Friday, September 4 at 3:30 at Moraine Valley.

🏃 The Illinois Valley Community College cross country program kicked off the fall 2026 season on Saturday at the Sauk Valley Early Season Opener.

The women’s team is off to a promising start, finishing third in a competitive field, featuring most of the Arrowhead Conference junior college programs.

“This was a great opportunity to see what most of our conference competition will look like this season,” IVCC head coach Matt Baker said. “We're seeing full squads of talented women across the board, which will give our relatively young squad a good challenge this year. I think they’re all ready to step up and keep building on this first performance.”

IVCC freshman Yoselin Carlos led the Eagles by taking 7th overall (14:15) in the 2-mile race. She was followed by teammates Avery Waca (11th place, 14:54), Riley Thrush (13th place, 15:26), Sophia Woods (16th place, 16:21), and Megan Stasiak (19th place, 17:10).

In the men’s 3-mile race, freshmen Kaleb Nimke (20:34) and John Ricci (20:39) placed next to each other in 15th and 16th places, respectively.

The Eagles' next meet is Saturday, Sept. 12 at Aurora University in Batavia, IL.

After a successful private phase championed by major donors, Illinois Valley Community College is inviting the community to join in supporting the future of agricultural education in the Illinois Valley.

The College announced the public launch of the Ag Forward Campaign to help reach the $2.5 million fundraising goal for the new Dr. Alfred E. Wisgoski Agricultural Education Center.

Two large naming opportunities remain available and donations of $500 or more will be recognized on a Donor Wall. Gifts of every size can make a difference. Individuals, families, businesses, agricultural organizations, and community members are encouraged to learn more about the project and support the future of agriculture in our community by helping raise the additional funds needed to complete this critical project.
